Genesis 2:10 - 15, Take Care of It

Take Care of It

Genesis 2:15  The Lord took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

Just as Adam was placed in the garden, God directs our life as well. It is amazing to look back and see how God organizes out lives. But, we are not to sit idly by and think that we have nothing to do. God has a task for each of us. It may not be tending a garden, but you can be assured it is an important one.

Ladies, Christians are not to be slackers, people who sit back and bask in the light of God. We are to be light ourselves. He has given you a task. I know, for me, the task has changed over the years and at the moment I am not sure where he is leading. But I am confident that he has a place for me to be and he will place me there as I remain faithful to him.

A & K, be assured the Lord has a place for you. It is where you are. Take care of the things he has given to you now, and he will lead you on to greater things!

Genesis 2:8 - 9, Pleasing to the Eye

Pleasing to the Eye

Genesis 2:9 And the Lord made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground - trees that were pleasing to the eye and were good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

What God makes is good. What he gives to us is pleasing and fulfilling. God placed Adam in the garden of Eden and put good things around him. Later in Genesis, we learn that not all that is good is for us to have.

A and K, all that is pleasing to the eye and all that is good may not be for you individually. You must learn what is yours and leave the rest alone. If God wants you to have it, he will give it to you; permit you to have it. If you take it, and it does not belong to you, it will bring you down. You will suffer for it.

Daughters, enjoy the good things God gives to you. Then, you will pleasing to his eye!

Genesis 2: 4 - 7, A Living Soul

A Living Soul

Genesis 2:7 The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

We are not just another creature with the "breath of life" in us. No, we are living souls! We did not just start breathing. God himself gave us breath. We are not just a body. we are so much more. Our pets and the wild animals have life, yet they lack the complete touch of God, his image and his Spirit. He breathed it into us.

Daughters, God created you to be like him. You are to have his character traits. Your desires are to match his desires, living as Christ would. This is true whether you are studying things you think you'll never use, or when you help out someone who is ungrateful or unkind. God, through his Spirit, gives you the power to live a holy life. He breathed into you his Spirit when you accepted Christ. Free his Spirit within your soul and your soul will truly live!

Genesis 2:2 & 3, Blessed & Holy

Blessed and Holy

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

The idea of the Sabbath is not a result of the Law nor specifically the Ten Commandments. It was established at creation. It is the fourth of the Ten Commandments, in the book of Exodus. There it refers back to creation confirming its everlasting importance.

K and A, do you want to be blessed? Do you want to be holy? Then, cease from working on the Day of Rest. And do not cause others to work either. This commandment is also be found in Deuteronomy 5 where it tells us to allow others to rest as well (our servants who cook, clean, and fix things). I know some people must "work", but the church has all but lost this battle.

You can be different though. And if you are, you will receive the blessing for which the Sabbath has been created. Holiness is attainable when we yearn to fulfil God's commands. I pray that you desire to live them out in your lives.

Genesis 1:31 - 2:1, Very Good

Very Good

Genesis 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning -- the sixth day.

God was quite please with what he had created. The separation of light from darkness, the earth and the heavens, the land and the seas, the plants and the animals and of those he made in his own image, man! When he looked everything over he saw that it was very good; not just good, but VERY good. God's work is not chintzy. He completes it with excellence.

Girls, I could speak of how you need to be excellent, like... Work hard, Do well, Excel, maybe you have heard that from me once or twice, and you already know that in what ever you do it should be done as if doing it for the Lord himself (Eph 6:7). But, today I want to talk about you.

When God created you he looked at you and said, she is VERY good. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "God don't make no junk" poor grammar but very true. You, my daughters, have been made in the image of God. He has created you to be able to serve him in spectacular ways. I am grateful that you are developing what he given you. So keep it up, because I think you are very good too and can't wait to see how he uses you!

Genesis 1:29 & 30, I Give You

I Give You

Genesis 1:29, Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Where do our rights come from? They come from our Creator. We are endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable Rights." God tells us what we can and cannot eat. At first no meat, then later, after the flood, he allows it. He even prescribed the diet of the animals.

K and A, never forget that governments have limited power by God. He uses them to protect us and guide us. He even guides them, causing them to unknowingly complete his will (Prov 21:1) We are to submit to them until they subvert his Word. When they ask us to do evil, we are not to follow them. That is true for all we are subject to; governments, work or school, parents or spouses. That does not necessarily mean we fight back, but it does mean we do not comply. So, when they say accept LGBTQ, we do not. When they ask us to use common bathrooms, we reject. When they ask us to compromise the 10 commandments, we follow all of them. Even the worldly church is changing what has been common traits of the church; from dress to music and fidelity to parental responsibility.

Ladies, live according to the Word. In it you can find the rights God has given and expects us to live. He says: I Give You!

~Dad

PS: As far as God giving us all green plants as food... There is a push to legalize drugs especially marijuana. Many, who are barely acquainted with spiritual life, like to quote this verse. If all green plants are good, maybe they should try poison ivy. Don't let society lead you astray. Just because it is made legal doesn't means it is what God desires.

Genesis 1:28, Blessed by God

Blessed by God

Genesis 1:28a, God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it...

To be blessed by God is a wonderful thing. To sense the smile of the loving Father, the Creator of the universe is beyond compare. It does not bring pride nor does it produce a false sense of hope. No it is a fulfilling satisfaction which produces a humble gratefulness; The one who created us is for us and desires our success.

Daughters, I could write and tell you how this verse shows you that God wants you to be married and have many children, how he expects you to be fruitful and to do your part in filling the earth with godly children... but that might be stretching it a bit. :) I can say that God wants you to be fruitful and multiply... spiritually. He does want you to produce spiritual offspring who fill the earth and become blessing for others. K and A, God has blessed you and will continue to bless you. Even more so as you live your lives for him and his kingdom. And when you do and when you sense his smile of approval... there is no greater joy in life!

~Dad

PS. I know both of you work with children at church. That makes this dad smile...

Genesis 1:24-27, In the Image of God

In the Image of God

Genesis 1:27, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Do you look like God? Do you have his eyes or his ears? Maybe it is his heart that you have. Previously, I wrote of the you inside of you. That you is the part God created in his image that I write about today. Man sinned and messed up the image God had created, but it can be made new!

K and A, you have both given your hearts to the Lord. You have been made knew in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17) but have you been sanctified? Have you completely sold out to him? Has his image been fully restored in your life? The Holy Spirit will do this in you. You will end up with his features all over you; you will be his hands and feet (1 Cor 12:7). And, all will recognize that you are his child, made in his image.

Genesis 1:20 - 23, According to It's kind

According to It's Kind

Genesis 1:21b,  And God saw that it was good.

On day 5 of creation, God created the creatures of the sea and the birds of the sky. They did not evolve from one species to another. They were created each as its own kind. God saw that it was good and was satisfied with what he had made.

Daughters, God made each of you. Sure, you may look like your dad and even act like him... scary thought I know, but inside, deep inside there is a different you, the real you, made by God in your own individual way. No one else can be you, just you. And when you rid yourself of your carnal desires, God will bring out the real you. And he will say... "It is good!" satisfied with what he has made.

Genesis 1:14 - 19, Light Controls Darkness

Light Controls Darkness

Genesis 1:14a, Let there be light in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night..

No longer is the earth formless and empty. No longer is there no place to stand. No longer is the earth barren, rather life abounds. Night does not rule, and darkness cannot overpower us, for God made light to govern not just day but night as well.

God is light and Satan is darkness. But even in the most dark areas of life, God is there. Satan does not have control over the creator. He must succumb to the power of Heaven.

Ladies, sometimes you may get down, the circumstances of life seem too much for you to handle. It is then you must remember that the creator of the universe created lights all around. He places his people all around you to help control the attacks of Satan. On the most cloudy of days, there is a glimmer shining through like the first break of dawn (Isa 58:8). God is providing a way for you, protecting you. Walk in the light, for he is there for you. (1 John 1:7)

Genesis 1:9-13, Life on the Third Day

Life on the Third Day

Genesis 1:12a, The land produced...

On day three of creation, God made dry land appear, and on that land, he produced a crop. He did so by commanding it to happen, and it did. God also commanded the fish to give up Jonah on the third day after he spent three days in the belly of a big fish. And, Jesus was raised to life on the third day.

Daughters, I am not going to come up with your third day meaning. I just want you to know that Jesus produces life. It is true when becoming a Christian, and certainly it must continue as you live out your daily walk. God will produce in you a harvest of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11) creating a pure life in you!

Genesis 1:6-8, Blue Skies

Blue Skies

Genesis 1:6-8a God called the expanse "sky"...

There is a term that helps us brighten our outlook on life and feel positive about it. The term "blue skies" is from a song from the late 1920's. It recognized the hope that exists when the heat and humidity of the day, which makes one feel miserable, is replaced by the bright blue skies. When life is full of trials and hardships a confidence that God will intervene brings the assurance of blue skies. At creation everything was looking up. It was just day two, and God's handiwork was just beginning. His creation was perfect and good things were on the horizon. (now that he created one).

A and K, your life is just beginning as well. God created you for good things (Ephesians 2:10) and he has great plans for you; good things are on the horizon! But sin has messed up his creation, Yet in your life you can choose to make it new. Get rid of the old and put on the new self to be like God, perfect like his original creation. (II Cor 5:17 & Eph 4:24) Then you will find the "blue skies" everyone desires.
