Proverbs 14:9 Fools mock at making amends for sin, but good will is found among the upright.
Penance has gotten a bad rap. This is mostly because the Catholic church used it to pay for forgiveness of sins which is heresy. When you sin against someone you have the obligation to make it right... if you stole - pay it back with interest, if you broke something - replace it. Saying I'm sorry doesn't cut it. Go make things right. ~Dad
