Appointed By God, Titus 1:3

Appointed By God

Titus 1:3 and at his appointed season he brought he brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior.

Paul, at the beginning of the book of Titus, establishes his authority as originating from God. These are not his words that he preaches and teaches, they are the words of God himself. Paul is appointed to bring them to light.

Let us be careful to follow God's Word today ~Dad

I Cannot Lie, Titus 1:2

I Cannot Lie

Titus 1:2 a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.

A book on George Washington tells that little George explained to his father that he cut down the cherry saying, "I cannot lie, Pa." This quote has no known truth to it. Satan is called the father of lies, making lying is a common sin for which the lake of fire was created. So, be careful, ladies and speak the truth.

On the other hand, God does not lie and his children do not either. Like him, you are to carry out your promises. Your word is to be reliable, above question. Then  people will put their trust in you, knowing you will not lie. ~Dad

The Point Of Godliness, Titus 1:2

The Point Of Godliness

Titus 1:2 a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.

We know that faith and knowledge leads to godliness. But why be godly? Because godliness is the required character trait needed to receive eternal life. If you are not godly, you will not make it into heaven. ~Dad

Paul's Commission, Titus 1:1

paul's Commission

Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness.

Paul served God so that people might have faith in God and to teach them the truths so they would know the way to godliness.

K and A, if you are going to be godly, you will need to know what Paul teaches here in Titus along with knowing the other truths taught by Paul throughout the New Testament. ~Dad

Titus For Us

Titus For Us

I have chosen the book of Titus. It is not for any particular reason beyond it is short and a useful book to learn what Paul expected to be taught in the church. It also shows how the church polity was organized and requirement for the people chosen the different positions.

Titus was an important co-worker with Paul and was utilized by him to establish churches in different areas around Greece and into what now is in the area of Croatia. He accompanied Paul on many of his journeys and was a reliable leader of the early church.

We can learn from Paul's instructions to Titus. We must be careful not to eliminate the teachings for cultural or generational teachings. They are very applicable to us today. Truly Titus is for Us.

May God bless our hearts and lives as we open his Word to our understanding. ~Dad

What's Next, Proverbs 1:8

What's Next

Proverbs 1:8 Listen, my [daughters], to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Hello daughters, I wasn't sure where to go next. The shorter format is nice for both you and me. So I decided to do a book of the New Testament. Probably a shorter one. I will be picking highlights from the passage. I won't be doing an exegesis of the book. If you have a particular book you want me to do, contact me. If not, I will choose one tomorrow. I pray the Lord blesses your life as you utilize these spiritual insights. ~Dad

Called By Name, John 20:16

Called By Name

John 20:16 Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni.!" which means Teacher)

Jesus knew her name, and she knew his. While Mary was about her duties, Jesus called her by name and she responded.

Will you recognize the voice of God when he calls your name? Daughters, Jesus has a way for you, and he will call you to it. Be faithful in his service until he calls your name. Answer him saying; Teacher, what do you have for me. Then, follow wherever he leads. ~Dad

Have a Bless-ed Easter!
