Get Up, Proverbs 6:9-10

Get Up!

Proverbs 6:9-10 How long will you lie there you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber. a little folding of the hands to rest - and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

Well, sometimes that is me, and sometimes it is you two as well, I am sure. so we need to be careful. Notice the word in there, "little". It happens little by little and it build secretly to overtake you, and you never saw it coming.

I will be starting again the daily writings. This is actually last weeks post. If I fail to keep up it will become difficult to catch up.... a little folding of the hands to rest.

A, this is your last year in college. Work hard, Do well, Excel - I know you never heard that before, but as you know, if you fail to do so, little by little it catches up to you.

A nd K, remember that the opposite is true as well. Scripture says, precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little there a little. The good will add up as well and it too will benefit you in the end. So, read your Bible every day. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Then, you be able to help those around you, teaching them the principles of God and his ways. Arise and be diligent in all you do and he will bring to you the fruits from your labor. You will eat of it and will taste that the Lord is good!

Holiness, The Only Way To See The Lord, Hebrews 12:14

Holiness, The Only Way To See God

Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

Holiness, the term is different to different folks. But, you better determine the Biblical definition for it. Some people have an excuse for what they do... I don't have the same conviction you do, so I can _________. You fill in the blank for you. But, remember A & K, it doesn't matter what you have convinced yourself of. It only matters what God thinks of it. My generation scoffed at the old ways, and then we made our own rules. Sad thing, it got carried into the church and now anyone can do anything like and feel good about it. They killed their consciences and then taught their children to do whatever feels good to them. If it was wrong the spirit would tell me. That would be true if they were connected to the Spirit in truth!

Daughters, here is a good reliable thought; if the world around you is having fun doing it, question it hard and long. And, do not pray for God to tell you it's wrong, instead pray to hear God tell you it is right. Don't go ahead and do it until you hear him tell you it. Otherwise you will end up convincing yourself it's all good.

Why does it matter... because only those fully devoted to the Lord, separated from the world and clinging to him - holiness - will enter the kingdom and see the Lord. To some extent both of you have a heritage that promotes holiness. I have never been so moved by the Spirit as much as I have when attending the conservative holiness meetings. Thanks for attending there A. I linked to two songs below. In the first, second verse it tells the truth of this scripture verse. I pray you do not want to forsake your heritage for the pleasures of the world. The second song... it get laborious and if you watch it, maybe even a little silly to you, but this song had me praying and holding up my hands as I felt the presence of the Lord while writing this. I confessed sins against him and against others and asked forgiveness and to make things right with those people. I know he heard my prayer! May he move in your heart too.

Sexual Purity, Hebrews 12:16a

Sexual Purity

Hebrews 12:16a See that no one is sexually immoral...

Sexual immorality is more than sex before marriage, it covers a multitude of areas. Although this verse is specific to fornicators, two unmarried couples having sex, we can use it to refer to sexual promiscuity between anyone. I am not trying to parse the scripture here and so do an exegesis on this word, rather I am trying to keep you from polluting yourself from sexual sins by staying far from them.

K and A, you are in different stages in life, but each of you must stay sexually pure, if you want to enter the kingdom (Eph 5:5 and many others). There are other reasons not to be involved in sexual sins; anger, distrust, hatred, guilt, disease, hopelessness, suicide, regret, children, abortion, and on and on... The temporary pleasure is not worth the heartache. Often the other person uses you. They speak all kind of promises and then ignores you like you never existed, unless they need something you have. You are left heartbroken and empty. Remember, this can easily happen to the best of people when not alert, whether married or unmarried.

I saved a Facebook post once that was entitled something like, I Kept My Virginity but Lost My Purity. Just because you do not fornicate or become an adulterer, doesn't mean you kept your purity in tact. Some of the "silly" rules of the past; keeping distance between couples, not holding hands or kissing, not hugging the opposite sex, keeping the door open when meeting with the opposite sex, certain parts of the body are private until marriage... all these were precautions to help retain control. Some of the most God-fearing, devoted people have succumbed to unwanted sexual pressures and fallen into remorse and even worse, left the walk of Faith and serve God no longer!

Daughters, beware of the tricks of the Devil and stay sexually pure.

Believing Despite Not Receiving, Hebrews 11:39

Believing Despite Not Receiving

Hebrews 11:39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.

When all is going well, it is easy to serve God. But, what do we do when times are tough, when nothing seems to go right, when we serve God with all our hearts, and "all these things don't seem to be added unto us" (Matt 6:33)?

K and A, you will not get everything you think you deserve. You may do right and still life is hard. There will be people who ridicule you for being a Christian, those who scoff at your lack of intelligence because you believe in God and the Bible. Don't fret. Be strong!

Remember that what you have now is nothing compared to what you will receive in eternity: if you are sinful, you will receive your reward... eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire, if you are faithful and live for the Lord no matter the hardships that come against you... eternal life with God and your Savior, Jesus Christ, forever blessed, no pain or sorrow, no crying or sadness, nor will there be any sin or evil, only happiness living in a new heaven and new earth where the old things have passed away (Revelations 21:4).

Keep believing and serving the Lord, daughters, for if you do, you will one day receive the promise God has given!

Faith Is Believeing, Believing Is Doing, Hebrews 11:28

Faith Is Believing, Believing Is Doing

Hebrews 11:28 By faith, he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

If faith is believing, then belief is obedience. For, if we believe that God will do as he says, we will carry out our portion of his plan. Moses knew God was using him. He was no ordinary boy. In fact, he was one of a few his age that lived, because he was rescued by the king's daughter from certain death. Yet, when he grew up he refused to be call Pharaoh's grandson, instead he chose to suffer along with his people rather than choose the pleasures of sin, he chose disgrace over the treasures the world - Egypt.

So, the time comes for the last plague to commence, what will the Hebrew people do? If they have faith in what God says, they will prepare themselves and carry out God's plan, they will put the blood around the door posts, and they di so and lived. See, their faith in God was a belief that he would do as he said, so they did as they were commanded, for their faith is seen in their obedience because of belief requires action.

K and A, you do not have a true faith in God if you do not carry out what he says in his word. Like Moses, your obedience to the God's Word shows the extent of your faith and if it is a true faith, it will save you just as it did him. But if you do not believe you will do your own thing thinking God's way is silly, foolish... blood of a lamb over the door post, angel of death is coming... all this sounds crazy. But, if the didn't obey the angle of death came and  death came to their firstborn.

So, when God says, do not conform to the pattern of this world, will you try to be different? When he says to honor your father and mother, will you receive the promise of doing so? How about when the pleasures of sin entice you, will you join in with them? Your faith in God is your belief in what he says is true and you carry out his desires. Remember, it is not faith alone, rather it is faith accompanied by obedience that show if you truly believe. Daughters, choose the hardships of servanthood rather than the "joys" of sin, the disgrace of being a Christian over pleasures and riches. Be a woman of faith, so the destroyer will pass over you and you can live!

Jesus Is Looking For You, Like 15:3

Jesus Is Looking For You

Luke 15:3 Then Jesus told them this parable;

Last night was the first night of VBS and Mother and I taught the rotating classes, bible story on 3 of the lost parables. I wanted to pass on to you ladies the e4nding I told the children. The three stories were on an object, and animal, and a person. This is just my final statement before they left the class. You can read the parables in Luke 15.

Just like the lost coin, each of us were lost in sin when you were born.
Jesus is searching for you. He will find you and rejoice!

Just like the lost sheep, we all have gone astray.
Jesus will search for you. He will find you and hold you close!

Just like the prodigal son, we all do foolish things and leave our Father in heaven.
Jesus is waiting for you to come home, because he loves you. He will be very happy when you do!

A and K, You do not have to remain lost, you are worth much to Jesus! When he calls your name, run home to him! He is waiting for you.

No Other Way, Hebrews 9:22b

No Other Way

Hebrews 9:22b and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness

A & K, Many look for ways to get to heaven. They do not want to follow the commands of the Father or the Son. They do not want to put their faith in the one whom would take away their sins. They know that love requires obedience but they want to live their own way. So, they look for others way to rid their lives of sin and guilt.

Today's worldly church says believe that Jesus is real, that he took away the penalty and you can continue living your new life the same old way. But love for God requires obedience to his commands and we cannot obey if we haven't been forgiven. And that forgiveness is rooted in the death of Christ where his blood was given to purify, not just cover.

Daughters, you could live a life not trying to bother anyone, you could obey all the laws and you can even beat your body, walk marathon for peace or you name it... doesn't matter. No personal sacrifice is good enough! It takes the blood of Christ. His life is the payment, his blood the cleansing source of sins forgiven. Put your faith in his blood, there's no other way!
