Psalm 85:2

November 17, 2015

Psalm 85:2... You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins...

What does God think about the sins of his people? Is he bothered by sin? Would he be satisfied with a christian sinning and saying, "everyone sins, you have your sin I have mine." "We all sin in thought word and deed everyday, every moment." NO! God is not happy when we sin, nor does he want us to remain in it. "Confess you sins one to another, so you may be healed.' (James 5:16)

God sent his messenger to David to set him straight. In  2 Samuel 12, Nathan confronts the King to his face and declares he is evil one. David recognizes his sins, is cut to the heart, and makes no excuse for it. He admits he sinned and mourns his actions against man and God. God want you to settle the matter as quickly as you see your sin. He says in Isaiah 1:18...  "Come now, let us settle the matter," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. He want to purify you and make things right again. (1 Jn 1:9)

A and K, It is true we are still capable of sinning as Christians. Sad as it is, today most are satisfied doing so. But we are not called to everlasting failure but to purity and righteousness. God said, "Be ye holy as I am holy." This theme is repeated many times through out scripture. Leviticus and Exodus and 1 Pet 1:16 to name a few. God want you to live lives pleasing to him and these types lives are ones that separate you from all that hinders, so throw all that stuff to the side (Hebrew 12:1) and live such good lives no one can speak ill of you. Near the end of this psalm it talks about things that go together... Love and faithfulness, and Righteousness and peace. Think about these. How are you developing them in your life. Allow God to make your life whiter as snow and you will find the holiness you seek.
