Psalm 69:8

October 31, 2015

Psalm 69:8... I am a stranger to my brothers; an alien to my own mother's sons...

David felt alone. He sought to please God but even his own family scorned him. There were many against him. People who had no reason to despise him were against him. They came against him to destroy him, to bring him down. But, David stood for what was right. He was not going to allow the attacks of others stop him from trying to please God. In his heart, David knew he wasn't perfect. He recognized his "folly" and "guilt" and he knew that God saw them as well (vs 5). Yet David wanted to do what was right and desired to please the Lord. Even when scorned and rejected or hated and made fun of, he would not give in. He was consumed with zeal for the house of God and took upon himself insults toward God as if they were against him. David was set in his heart that he was going to serve the Lord.

We are called to serve the Lord no matter what comes against us. The attacks of the enemy get personal at times; they hit close home. Friends and family may attack, but we must not faint and fall back. Stand, that is what we are called to do (Ep 6:13). Christ has disciples, we must be willing to forsake all else, so we can be one? Jesus said that we must hate our own life and even ourselves to be one (Lk 14:26).

Daughters, are you willing to forsake all to live as a disciple. You may say, "but I accepted Christ when I was young," or "I was baptized." These are so very important but serving Christ is so much more. To forsake the world around you when it is so inviting or to shrink back when you seem out of place is wrong and leads you away from Christ. Endure the hardship of being different from the world around you. It is the only way to be united with Christ and to "be" his disciple.

Psalm 67:1

October 31, 2015, this verse was skipped by mistake

Psalm 67:1... May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us... Selah

God has been gracious. He gives life and breath, hope and joy. Man cannot even think a good thought without aid from heaven (cannot find the reference). He gives strength to the mind and hope to the heart. Selah - "think about it"

No matter who we are we need to thank God for his goodness. Even the wicked are blessed by God. But, Scripture is clear that those that follow God are raised up and the wicked are brought low ( Ps 75:10, Pr 14:32). God blesses his people and is generous to them. We praise him and exalt him above all else.

In this chapter we see a reason we we are blessed so. It is a way that God reveals himself to others; vs 2... "that your ways maybe known on earth," and verse 7... "that all the world will fear him." We are blessed so others may become part of us. God takes care of his people and the wicked see it and see the benefits of serving God.

A and K, your life is on display before the world. They are seeing who God is by observing your life. Live in such a way that others will desire Christ in their life. Your happiness and your outlook on life is used by God as a witness to the joys of being a Christian. How well are you doing? I pray that God blesses you and is gracious to you. I pray his face shines upon you and that you reflect the glow so others can see his greatness and come to him. Smile God loves you... think about it.

Psalm 68:5

October 30, 2015

Psalm 68:5... A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.''

Where is God? - in his holy dwelling. What does God care about? - the fatherless and widow. IS this all God cares about? - No! Through the use of  the Scriptures we can see the character of God. "In the beginning" of Genesis, we see how detailed and powerful. He speaks into existence all things we know and will know. They work together perfectly and the world begins (Ge 1:31 & 2:3)Sin spoils man & creation, yet God is not silent nor aloof. He actively works to work out his plan. (Jer 29:11) Suffering now exists and he hurts when the innocent suffer and are taken advantage of.

As Christians, we are to be like Jesus. Jesus carries out the will of his father - he is like his father (Jn 5:19). We also must do the father's will (Mt 12:50. We not see from Psalms that God love the needy but we see it in the NT as well. What is a worthy religion? - "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).

A & K, we are to be like Christ and do the will of the father. There are many things we are to do. Carrying out his will is expansive (read the right word there). Much bigger than us but we must care about what he cares about. You can see this in the synopsis of the Law (God's Law by the way); Love the Lord with all your heart mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself (Mk 12:31). Daughters, care about those around you. Do so for their spiritual as well as physical needs. God cares for them. You care for them also.

Psalm 66:16

October 29, 2015

Psalm 66:16... Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me...

God has done marvelous things (Ps 98:1), more numerous than can be counted. David spoke of his works in relation to the people of Israel. It was well known by the people of that part of the world how incredible they truly were. The 10 plagues done in Egypt instilled fear in the hearts of the people of Canaan. The crossing of the Red Sea on dry land was an amazing feat which gave indisputable evidence that God provides for his people.

We must recognize the provisions of God. We must see that he loves his people, those that fear him and do his will, and gives to them generously. This is not good enough on its own. It is not right for others not to know how good he has been. We must tell others. They must see his greatness. They must understand how he provides for his people. and will they know if they do not hear, and how can they hear if we do not tell (Ro 10:14).

K and A, you have seen God work in your life of others. Are you willing to tell someone? A, you are hearing a lot of testimonies at school and church. K, you have heard them at Seyfert Camp. They are beneficial for the body of Christ but they are also very important for the lost and the seeking. I am not much into street preaching, makes me cringe; I think you cringe at that thought as well. But be willing if you have the opportunity and especially on a one on one basis if God places you in one... just tell  what God as done for you. It is a joy like none other when others benefit from your witness.

Psalm 65:9

October 28, 2015

Psalm 65:9... You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it...

"And God said, "Let the waters be gathered under the sky to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so... (Ge 1:9). God created the world. He spoke it into existence. God set in motion the operation of the universe and all its wonders. Man was created by God as well (Ge 1:27). They were created in his image; they are different than animals. And God supplies the needs of both man and animals as well as the land. (Mt 5:45, Mt 6:27 & 30)

We can be assured that God cares for us. He provides the rain that waters the earth. He warms the earth with the sun and causes the plants to grow. He feeds the birds of the air and clothes the flowers of the fields (Mt 6). God is our supplier. But he supplies more than just physical. God is the supplier of both emotional and spiritual strength as well. He is our hope and strength. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power." (Eph 6:10), "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." (Phil 4:13), But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.(2 Chr 15:7).

Well A and K, It is evident that God is here for you! You can count on him through all aspects of life. No matter what situation life places you, you can count on God to provide a way through it (Ro 8:28). He provides the strength and ability and desire to succeed. So then I have no responsibilities. Its all on God, you say? No, it's not true before salvation and it isn't after. You need to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind (Lk 10:27); that is what you have to do. How is that done? that is what the Old and New Testaments are for. They are written for you as examples of how to live (I Cor 10:11); they show you how to love God. As we do this, then we will be strengthened and the flood of joy will "stream through our lives for so he has ordained it!

Psalm 64:1

October 27, 2015

Psalm 64:1... Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy...

Who is the enemy? With whom is our complaint against? Is it the people that tear us down, or those that embitter us? We do not fight against flesh and blood, no, we fight against the spiritual forces of evil in the heaven;y realm (Ep 6:12). God wants all to receive him (2 Pet 3:9). so when you look at the enemy, remember that the enemy is not what you see but what is behind what you see which causes what you see to do evil. They are without God.

Miss A & K, it is right to despise evil. But, it is not right to despise people. It is right to plead with God to "protect you from the threat of an enemy," You must remember that you would be like them if God would not have quickened you heart. I have said to some and to myself many times, that I would be a very wicked man if God would have not saved me from sinning and kept me from being involved in the garbage that happened in extra curricular band activities and the like. And if I grew up into today's church which says living like the world in its music and dancing and clothing, I would have taken the low road, This is easy to do when a church leader you trust says those things are okay.

I thank and praise the Lord he gave me tighter direction, or neither of you would have heard the truth of the Word from me. Seek righteousness. Honor God with your life. Flee the ways of the world so you do not turn out as I would have. Take the high road daughters. There is not as many there, but the view for the future from there is grand!

Psalm 63:1

October 26, 2015

Psalm 63:1... O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirst for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

David was actually in a dry and thirsty land where there was no water. It isn't clear why he was there, whether he was out on a campaign, trying to escape Saul, or fleeing from his son Absolom. But the correlation between this physical place and a spiritual one is fitting. Elijah, the prophet, became dry and thirsty.

In chapter 17 of 1 Kings, we see the land had no rain, Elijah prayed that it would not,yet the Lord provided for Elijah sending him to a ravine where her was fed by the ravens and drank from a brook. But it dried up. Then God sent him to a widow and her son and she provided water and bread for them in a miraculous way. But this is not the real thirst he had.Later he would have a spiritual one.

In chapter 19 of the same book, we read that God provided rain on the land after an amazing display of power on the mountain top. But soon after this event, there was another drought; a drought in the heart of Elijah. Jezebel wanted Elijah's head and  he was naturally fearful. What was he to do, did he trust God at this point to rescue him? He did not; he ran. He ran until he was exhausted and hid in a cave. But God did not abandon him. Instead he supplied him with water and food through a touch of an angel and then told him to travel on... which he did for 40 days and 40 nights. Wen he rested on Mount Horeb, God came to him. He asked Elijah, "what are you doing here?" Elijah answered him and told God that he wanted to die. He was so dry in his heart, and soul, and mind that he did not want to continue living. God reassured Elijah, and he continued in the Lord's work a while longer.

"Nice story, Dad," you say. It is many good stories in there actually, but you needed this synopsis so you could get the point of the verse in Psalms... Daughters don't doubt God way in the tough times. Or when you see the world succeed and you wonder whether it is worth living a holy life. It is. Do not become so dejected with the lives of others that you think there is no use going on. I've felt this way already. You must continue to do right and drink from the well that never run dry and one where you need never thirst again (Jn 4:14). Don't drink from the cistern of the world. It has lots of glimmer and promises, but they fail in the end. Instead earnestly seek the God who gives abundantly and satisfies the soul.

Psalm 62:8

October 25, 2015

Psalm 62:8... Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge...

This is a continuation of the theme from yesterday's verse. David had asked God to hear his prayer, and here he asks us to pour out our hearts to him. It is not just for the king or our leaders to call out to God. God is a personal God and is accessible to all. He lives within each Christian (Rev 3:20, John 16:7)

Many people, when they are in need, run to their pastor or spiritual leader and seek comfort and help. They go to them, because they are more spiritual and are able to touch God. This is not to be the case. each one, as Christians, are given the holy spirit by God to live in us and to guide us through to eternal life. He comforts and guides us, and we can take refuge in him (Jn 16:7). He is in us to give us the insight to live by guiding us to the truth (Jn 14:16 & 17).

K and A, where do you take refuge? Do you find it in those you love? Is it in your parents, your fiance`, maybe a song or music group. Some find it in drugs or alcohol or even a good meal or some comfort food. We are not to find refuge in any of these things. Sure, God put people here for us. Husband, parents, close friends, mentors all can be used by God to help us through tough circumstances that come in life, but we are to rely on God. This is why it is so great to be a Christian. People fail us, sometimes they just don't understand, but the Spirit was given to us to live in us to comfort and guide us. Ladies, determined to be filled with the Spirit, so you may sense his presence, and live confidently under his control. There is peace when you surrender all to the Lord. Its the place  you want to be.

Psalm 61:1

October 24, 2015

Psalm 61:1... Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer...

The are many examples of people in the Bible calling out to God. Abraham pleaded with the Lord for others. The Lord had come to earth to destroy the people of the cities of the plains and Abraham tried to save the cities from destruction (Ge. 18:16-33). Job demands an audience with God to plead his case before him (Job 23:3-7). Paul also pleads with the Lord to take away his "thorn in the flesh" (II Co 12:8)

Should we not plead with God for our concerns and needs. We must! God is not deaf like an idol; no he is living and hears his child's every cry yet we are told to plead with to him like the persistent widow (Luke 18:6-8). In fact, in verse 8, he says that he will come and hopes to find someone who is faithful... faithful in calling out to him.

A and K,  you have seen the War Room. You know that the main messages of the movie, specify your need and cry out to God to answer it. What are you facing in life. You cannot face life alone. There will come a time that all will seem lost and you will need to turn to Him. I say, do it before you need him. He will keep you strong. And when you do find heartache, you wont need to prepare yourself to seek him because he is already close by. With some struggles of my own this past year I know I could not have made it if it wasn't for God. People may betray you and all might seem hopeless, but not God! He will hear your cry and listen to your prayer. What a great God we serve.

Psalm 60:4... But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow...

God protects his people. He gives them strength and hope and they can count on him. But, there is a requirement on our part... we must fear him. An example of this can be found in Exodus 17 where God protects Israel in battle as long as Moses kept his hands on the air (Ex 17:11). It took obedience to the Lord and it was easy to see what happen if Moses wasn't obedient... Israel started losing.

We need to trust God but we have a responsibility to listen and be obedient to him and realize that if we fail to fear the Lord, we learn that the consequences we feared come to pass.

A, many people think that, as Christians, we do not need to fear the Lord. This is wrong Christ specifically says to fear God, because he can send both your body and soul into hell (Luke 12:5). Perfect loves does casts out fear (1 John 4:18). Daughter, make sure you love him perfectly by being obedient to his way, and you can rest in his banner of love. ~Dad

Psalm 59:17 ... You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely...

Reliance on God... in the Scriptures, we see many examples of people relying on God. Even better, the exams prove how faithful God is to his word.

We can see this with Noah and his trust of God through the ultimate storm of life (Ge 9:18 ). we also see it with with Ruth in honoring her dedication to him (Ruth 4:9). Paul also show God's faithfulness when he challenges king Agrippa to accept Jesus as his savior (Acts 29:29 ).

A, You can trust God to be faithful. But remember that it takes your commitment to God to show his faithfulness. Honor him and glorify his name when you see he hand at work. Sing for him... never sing the songs of the world. Honor him all your life. ~Dad

Psalm 58:11...Then men will say, "Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth...
God says... "it is mine to avenge. I will repay." (Deut. 32:35) Jesus says... "If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to him the other." (Mat 5:39). David is asking for God to act on his behalf. He is very direct in what he wants God to do - destroy the wicked.
Although this brings about the important truth of verse 11 it is not what Jesus calls us to. In fact even his own son, Solomon, said to be kind to those who are against you (Prov 25:22). So what is verse 11 about then... it does the heart and mind of man good when we see God act. It is our proof that he is working on our behalf.
A and K, know that God is there for us. Be patient when you do not see him working fast enough for you. He cares for you (1 Pet 5:7)! He is working even when we cannot see it. Trust him, give him your full confidence and obedience and watch him work on you behalf. ~Dad

Psalm 57:7... My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music...
Music is an expression of the heart. David speaks much about music and how it can be used to give glory to God. The angles gave glory to God when Jesus was born (not sure they were singing though). Moses sang, Miriam sang, Mary sang and many more gave glory to God by singing.
You have heard it said many times I am sure, "it say to make a joyful noise." (Psalm 100:1) This is used as an excuse to not sing well... Now it is evident that some sing and some perform better than others. We cannot use that as an excuse to become better. Scripture to us to be excellent at what we do and specifically in playing or singing for God to play skillfully (Ps 33:3). But why to we do this... because we are so happy that God has made our hearts steadfast in him. He has solidified our desire to serve and honor him; to be obedient to his way.
A and K, do you work diligently at wanting to better. Are you working to be skillful in your singing and playing the piano. It is true that some are better than others... A is better than I ever was (or will be unless God chooses otherwise) and K progressed much farther than A. Some of this is because of the training we've had.some is that God gave more coordination to some. And some are less stubborn and try harder. So... I want you both to excel. I want to sing with each of you playing (maybe not at the same time but that would be nice too). But I am much more concerned about the reason of why you sing and play.
Daughters, sing and play for in honor to the Lord. Recognize his greatness. See how he honors your devotion to him. Thanks and praise him for how he lifts and takes you through tough times. Glorify his name! ~Dad

After I write these posts each day, I have my prayer time. I pray for each of you. If you have something on your heart, I want to pray for it. Please share and I will gladly pray. ~Dad

Psalm 56:4...In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
The scriptures are full of references to trusting in God. Psalms and Proverbs have verses which state it outright. The examples of people trusting God are many. Using the three Hebrew captives of the Chaldeans as an example, we can see how they knew God was on their side. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah's story is marked by the overweening sense of trust theses young men put in God to deliver them from the hand of the enemy. They never received freedom from captivity but they were able to show that God would protect them in their captivity for as long as he - God deem best. They came out un-scorched (Dn 3:27).
Let's look at two things here. First, They trusted that God was in control. What could mortal men do to them? Plenty. They had been taken captive and forced to subject to the king and to his decrees. Yet they refused to yield to his demand that went against God. They willing took on the consequences when they could not alter the kings decree (Dn 1:8-16) Second, we can learn that even if death is imminent, that is a better choice than yielding to the ways of man! These three men said, "even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." (Dn 3:18). They were ready to die for there belief in God and his word.
K and A, it is so easy to yield to the pressures around us. But we don't need to. I have asked you to take the way of holiness. This is not an easy path. Both of you have made fun of the conservative holiness way in reference to exposed elbows. I ask you not to make fun of others rules. It will cause apathy for all rules and that is not good. The pressures today to follow the ways of the world are strong today like the have always been. When you look at what happened to Israel when they wanted to be like those around them you will want different from those around you. When you say to yourself, "no one else in the church has to be so restrictive, what benefit is there to me to live separate," remember that the way to heaven is narrow and few find it. And consider what happens two or three generations from now.
K, your family history is not as strong in the Lord as ours, although you since you have been adopted in you add a new heritage. This heritage on my fathers side has had hundreds of years in being a separate people. Just look at my FB and see what happens in one generation when we choose the way of the world around us. They dance, they drink, they wear immodest clothes then they turn and say wonderful "christian" words. Janus, is the word that comes to mind. I am saddened how we have led your generation astray mixing secularism and Christ. frown emoticon
But you do not have to be like the rest. The three captives weren't. They chose not to be like the world around them. They were willing to die. Yet, God protected them. I doubt that this will be so drastic in your life today... maybe the future if the world and church continues its path. You instead need just to be willing to die to the world and the worldly church around you. Choose to "praise the Word" of God by living it out! Be different from the masses around you. Seek righteousness and you will find that you need not fear because you say, "I trust in God" ~Dad
PS... K, don't think it is easy for me because I have this strong heritage... take a look at my mom's side. We no nothing about my grandpa, my step-grandpa and grandma never married, they just lived together. My mom was fed beer in her bottle as a child because she didn't have milk (that makes no sense to me). They lived in the projects of Philly on welfare. Her uncle was a drunken huckster who gave up his children to others. My great-grandmother gave up her children to family members because she couldn't afford them... Look instead to what happens when my mother was saved and then grew up in a conservative holiness church where Anita taught her. Her past left her and she walks a new road. Live out your spiritual heritage. Grace and her husband started your church. She wants you to continue the heritage and so do I. It might look tough but in the end it is the easiest and most rewarding. You won't have any regrets.

Psalm 55:22...Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fail...
In 1st Peter 5:7 it says to "cast you cares on the Lord for he cares for you." God cares about his people. Of course he cares for everyone but he especially looks out and sustains his people. The references and examples of God's abiding strength for his people is quite numerous. We see it with Adam and Eve, Abram and Sarai, Ruth, Daniel, Jeremiah, Christ, Paul, and so many more. Certainly he continues to care today (Heb 13:8).
We must rely on God in our times both good and bad. To say we will not have any trouble would be ludicrous. There are plenty of troubles. Even Jesus said, "in this life you will have trouble" (Jn 16:33). But it goes on in that verse to say that he has "overcome the world" and that we are to take heart or to expect it and plan for it and know that we too, like him and because of him and because we are his, we too will make it!
Miss A and Miss K, you must not fret when trouble comes. Instead, remember that we were told tough times will come, but when do come, he will provide strength to overcome them. So keep the truth of today's verse in your heart and mind... God will sustain you if you are righteous and he will not let you fail. These truths bring hope as we meditate on them. Stay strong girls. ~Dad

Psalm 54:4... Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me...
In Psalm 121:2 it says, "my help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth." 45:1 says that "he is a ever present help in times of trouble." the scriptures are filled with the help the Lord gives his people. But he thwarts the ways of the wicked (Prov 10:3 for one example) and they falter in times of trouble because their strength is week (Pr 24:10)
It is important that we stand in the Spirit's strength. In America, our culture, and a sinful one at that, says that we are to be tough and handle our situation, "when the times get tough the tough get going" is the phrase. Although there is some validity here (and with sin there always is) we must not forget from where our strength must lie. That place is in the hands of the Father. He will not just protect but he will strengthen and sustain you.
Daughters, both of you are having problems that bother your life. They are different from each other, but I can still give you the same advise. Verse 28 of Luke 21 says it well, When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." I encourage you both, especially you, K, with your tough nursing schedule and your urgency to do well or failure seems imminent (not eminent). So K and A, when times get tough you may need to buckle down and work harder, but don't forget to lift your head and ask God for the strength and ability to make it through. For surely, God is your help! ~Dad

Psalm 53:2... God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God...
"There is no one righteous, no not one," (Ro 3:10).This psalm talks about how there is no one who does good; every thought is vile. Sinful man has fled the God's presence. He cannot stand before a holy God. Moses could not look upon God (Ex 33:20). The people of Israel couldn't even come close to the mountain and touch it (Ex 19:12). This can be first seen when sin entered the world when Adam and Eve hid from God when they heard him coming (Ge 3:8).
We must realize that our sin separates us from God. It is said that God cannot look upon sin (Hab. 1:13). He turn from Jesus on the cross (Mt 27:46) [that is not an absolute, but Jesus' statement of God forsaking him]. Yet that doesn't mean he isn't looking for us to come back to him and has rejected us forever. We are the ones that choose to leave. We can choose to return. But do not think that this is forever. We do not know how long God will reach out to us.(2 Cor 6:2), (Ge 6:3, 1 Pt 3:20) We cannot presume on God's kindnesses. Instead we must seek God. That is what this verse is talking about.God is looking for anyone who is seeking him.; those who want to understand him and his ways.
K and A, God is looking for faithful men and women who will follow him in holy living. He says that those who seek him shall find him.(Jer 29:13). But there is a catch... with God there is a catch, you say? Yes, daughters, the reason I have stressed holiness with you and the need for you to curb human nature and keep from living like most Christians, is that Christ says in many places that we must be different. We must search like it is a hidden treasure. We must hunger and thirst after righteousness. And, we must seek him with all our heart, mind, body and soul (Mt 22:37). That is when we will find him fully. Young ladies, choose not to be like everyone else. Many seek to decorate themselves to be beautiful. I ask you to work on the inside and, like the women of old (1 Pet 3:5), you will find holiness and peace with both God and man. God looks down from heaven to find someone... Psalm 52:8... But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever...
David had just been ratted out. Doeg, and Edomite (a descendant of Esau), told Saul where David was hiding. This, of course, didn't make him happy but did make him fearful. Yet, David knew that God would oppose the proud and thwart the efforts of the wicked no matter how strong they think they are. He also knew that God was trustworthy and that he would protect him. So, he says in this verse, that he was like a tree in God's house, one that flourishes.
We need to trust God when others are against us. When life seems unbearable we can have the confidence that we will not only make it, but that we will thrive!. We can trust his unbending love to carry us through, we must not see the strong around us and fear that we will be overrun never to rise again.
Miss A and K, keep trusting in God because he will not fail you. You might not always do right, but you can trust that he will be there for those that seek him out. When others come against you, trust him to pull you through. But even more than pull you through, he can do more than you ask or think (Eph 3:20), and it will be abundantly. Seek him ladies and bring him honor and allow you to keep you strong. ~Dad

Psalm 51:17... The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart. O God, you will not despise...
This chapter is written by David when he confessed to God after he recognized his sin with Bathsheba because of Nathan's obedience in talking with him. He was cut to the heart and realized that he sinned and was sorrowful. He admits his sin and asks for a clean spirit.
There are some very important lessons throughout the whole chapter. We need to see them and here are some... When confronted with your sin, admit it and seek forgiveness. Don't expect God to just forgive you because you asked him... plead for his forgiveness based on his goodness. You must recognize your sin is not just against man it is also against God--- in fact, this is the greater sin (even when David was also responsible for murder. We must be fully broken. We must desire purity and know that he can make you whiter than snow again. Desire and allow God to create in you a steadfast spirit. Then Praise him for his faithfulness - despite your unfaithfulness.
A and K The Word was written for many reasons, namely so we do not sin! but if we do sin, realize Jesus is there so we can come back to God and be made pure once more. I encourage to flee the temptations of the world. That is most easily done by not becoming like them and doing the things they do... I know this is not taught in most churches today, but it kept the Bs holy for many centuries and today many have changed course and i see the result in my cousins with the FB posts. the other day I wrote "delete" in the comment section of a vulgar post. I deleted it so I don't know if there was a response. You must determine not to sin... be thankful there is a way if we do ~Dad
PS K, you told me of someone close who sins and is satisfied knowing God is forgiving and all will be fine... this chapter shows that we cannot come lightly to him and believe he doesn't mind .. see also Heb.6:6, Daughters, may that never be you or I

Psalm 50:10... For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousands hills...
This psalm of Asaph, not David, tells us that although God wanted Israel to sacrifice to him, it wasn't for his benefit, it was for theirs. God owns it all and is in need of nothing. In fact when he calls his people to tithe to him it doesn't benefit him it benefits the giver. That is the essence of this scripture.
We are called to tithe today just like Israel was called to. Tithing doesn't help God but it does help his church. I am convinced that If God doesn't get it from us, he will give our 10% to someone else who is willing to give to him. We wonder where all our money goes... check and see it we are tithing. But God want more than just our tithe when want extra from us called offerings... God sounds greedy; like he wants it all! Don't forget the beginning of the post... God already owns it all. the giving is for our benefit!
K and A, know that God allows us to keep 90% of what he allows you to have earned. He requires you give him 10% (Mt 23:23, Lk 11:42) and asks to to give more if you feel blessed or see a need around you. He does this for your benefit. Remember, your money is really his and you are just a steward of his money. I exhort you to set aside 10% of the gross of your earnings and give it back to the Lord... the church and then give more as an offering to him. Verse 15 says that when we do this, God will deliver us when we call out to him. Seems important. A, have you set aside 10% from the money you received from B.E.? Don't neglect the your worship of God in this manner. It too is part of holiness and you will be blessed when you do so. ~Dad
PS... When I first read this verse I was going to write a light hearted version... I'll post it later.

As promised, although delayed
Psalm 50:10... For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousands hills...
God does not need our sacrifices, so he can survive; It all belongs to him.
We need him and all of what we have comes from him.
I remember years ago when we would go our to hunt deer upstate and then have Uncle Graybill's family here, Grandpa (both mine and yours) would pray... Lord keep us safe, and the cattle on a thousand hills are yours, how about sending some our way. I always liked that. smile emoticon

Psalm 49:7... No one can redeem a life of another or give to God a ransom for him...
There is only one way to God; it is through his son Jesus (Jn 14:6). There is no greater love a person can have for another but to lay their life down for them (Jn 15:13), but they cannot save them. Redemption is only possible through Jesus.
We cannot not save another, but we are told to go into the world and tell others about the "Way" to be saved. Then we are to disciple them to help them walk in the way. The people we talk to must accept the Way and are responsible to accept the walk through discipleship. If they refuse, their blood is on their own head (Ek 33:1-20 [good to read]). We must first be willing to learn and then we must share what we have learned.
K and A, both of you have heeded the warning to flee the coming destruction by walking with God. You have learned some, but you have not been disciplined fully. Continue down this path. I have been given the responsibility to lead you on this journey and that is why I have corrected you along the way. K I have not had much time with you and you have been given much to swallow and it goes down hard at times. What is worse, others treated you differently and said this will be okay for you and I changed your prescriptions. As a nurse in training and as a patient yourself at times, you know how medicine, shots and the like are not pleasant at times (most times), but it must be administered if the patient is to get better and not suffer. Daughters, take the Word I give to you and the practices I deem most appropriate for your life. You will find them most useful in your walk with the Lord in the future. When attacks from the enemy come, you will be strong and make it through unscathed. Remember as the verse says, I cannot redeem you or even lay my life down for you to save you. If I could I would, all I can do is tell you what has been given me in order for you to walk holy with the Lord. ~Dad
One last thing... K, you know the care of the nurse is crucial for the health of the patient. If she is a harsh or course acting nurse they may not recover. Girls... I'll work diligently to administer the word in such a way that it's truths are palatable. I'm sorry for the times I haven't done in the past. Forgive me, sometimes dads are the best they can be. (A... that means no pill guns like we use with the cows or those bag fed calves)

Psalm 48:14... For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end...
This psalm is about the greatness of Jerusalem. It was great declared great because of who inhabited the city - God. God was the one who made it great. Yes, it had a citadels and towers, and it was a beautiful city, but that was not what made it a great city. It greatness came from God himself. His name made it strong. His unfailing love and greatness made it great. His protection made it great.
Man needs to see that our greatness doesn't come from within. It does not come from his abilities, his looks, nor his accomplishments. Rather, it comes from God. When we solely see man for who he is without God we see temporary success and ultimately we see failure. Man has proved that he will always destroy himself. See chapter 3 of Genesis for this. Man is created perfect, yet he cannot even succeed when he never knew wrong. It is only when he is teemed with God that we find him worthy of glory and success.
A & K, seek to be called a child of God. Know that you will not succeed without him. Never forget that how you look or what you accomplish will always fail you if not coupled with Christ. Teem up with the one who make all the difference. ~Dad

  • Psalms 47:6... Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises...
You might think that David was incessant on praising God and here tells us to do so as well. If you thought that you would be wrong! This psalm is from the sons of Korah. David wrote around half of the psalms, so don't attribute them all to him. But both of the authors wrote time and again that God needs to hear our praise.
Today that is the overwhelming theme of the contemporary church. It has pushed and pushed the idea that you cannot worship God if you are not praising him in song. In fact the term worship music today means contemporary music. They are one in the same. You cannot praise or worship God properly if you are not singing contemporary music... christian rock.
A and K don't be fooled. today's church, conceived and run by my generation has polluted your generation's mind. If I could apologize and change that I would. But I can encourage you to not be sucked into it... for A, and encourage you to free yourself from it... for you K.
But you say it is in the Bible... and I agree. That is why I chose this verse. Not that you suck up to the world's music to mimic praise to God, but that you truly praise the one who is worthy of it. In chapter 4 of Revelation it talks about throne and how there are groups of creatures that are constantly praising God. We need to do that in many ways. Some contemporary songs do this well, but there are many hymns that do it as well. but don't limit yourself to just praising him with songs. this is the purpose of this post... praise God with your life: the way you smile can praise God along with many other ways, the way you talk, sing, look, dress, act, our free time, pleasures, and all our being. Each is an avenue of praise to God, for him and others to witness. How are you going to praise God today, each day? ~Dad
  • An added note... Praise can be faked, daughters. Never fake your praise! It will cause apathy. K you have told me that you witness this. "they sing and wave their bodies back and forth in praise to God in convo, and then the watch terrible movies and listen to rotten music." (not your exact quote). And A, if you haven't seen it you will; a moving holiness song will make me raise my hand in agreement but inside I feel nothing. people do it many times because that's what you are supposed to do. This will cause you to kill the sense of the spirit like nothing else... Only do it when you sense the move of the spirit not the move of the song... so key for today! Especially don't do it because someone says to, but don't squelch either. You'll be a dead christian... Instead honor him with praise through your life and on your tongue. ~Dad

Psalm 46:1... God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble...
In the NT, it talks about how Christ wanted to care for Israel like a mother hen (Mt 23:37). God our strength, an ever-present help. That is what you need. It is what I need. If we are to make it through the tough times of life, we must rely on him. If we are to make it through the good times of life, we must rely on him.
That last part may sound funny but the good times are when God's people seem to forget about him the most. Israel did it over and over again as seen in the books of Kings and Chronicles.
A and K, seek to be holy in the good times as well as the bad. Recognize that our safety from the temptations of the world are found in him. Stay under the shelter of his wing. ~Dad

Psalm 45:7... You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy...
Proverbs is full of the benefits of righteousness and the dangers of wickedness. They are practical examples of how to avoid wickedness and the results of living it. Conversely, the book of Proverbs speaks of righteousness and why you should embrace it. For example, Prov 4:18... "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day"... God promises good for those that are righteous; those who live right according to his ways. then 19 says " but the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble."... Their hardships are compounded one on another
It is important that we live lives pleasing to God. It not only produces a result in this life but in the life to come. In Matt 25 God shows what happens to those not living as he requires. Notice it is not just as he desires but as he requires. If you are DOING right (many do not teach this today), you will not make it to the kingdom. Instead you will be with those who are wicked. You will be sent to eternal punishment instead of eternal life (Mt 25:46).
Make no mistake young ladies, God pays you for how you live. IF you live in wickedness, then you will get paid for it, but the opposite is true and thankfully so. If you live in righteousness, you get blessed with many rewards. This is true now as well as later and this verse tells you that... Live righteously and be soothed with joy. Sounds like the best way to live! ~Dad

Psalm 44:1 We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago...
Israel's history was well known. Not just in their own nation but in other nations as well and they feared God. Sad thing is that Israel forgot what God did for them and they turned from him. They had no fear of what might occur.
I've heard it said that when you say the words... I remember how it used to be... I remember when God used to move among us.... I remember... if you say these things you are trying to live in the past and you are hurting the cause of Christ. Churches have been closed and taken over. I know of these places. They questioned it at Saville. Well God wants us to remember and tell the stories of what God has done. He dies want us to live it today today as well.
A and K. I do remember a past where God moved among his people. A movement that cause his people to move away from the world not to it. One where holiness meant a difference between the people of the world and the church because of how the lived and what they did. K, I hear these words from Dan Taylor at camp... he want to see the Lord like when he was young. You witnessed it there some but not in the days of old when the move of God was so holy that confessions and repentance were unstoppable.
I think I know the problem... people want the move of God but they don't want the contrite hearts that must come with the move of the spirit. Today we don't want the holiness lifestyle that the Anita Brechbill and Grace Taylor's of the world lived. How will you ladies be? I pray you want the holiness of the past and are willing to find it by being separate from the world today... then you to can tell the glory of years past when God moved in your lives. ~Dad

I did not have the time nor the concentration at "work" to give references. Can a point be true if you can't prove it in scripture? so here are some...
"but in other nations as well" (Josh. 2:10 & 11)
"Israel forgot what God did for them" (Jdg 3:7) (Jdg 8:38) (Dt 4:9 - so crucial to read - get your Bible out & read it!)

Psalm 43:3 Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell...
Where does God dwell? can we actually go to that place? Is it too holy for us to be there? The people of Israel were not allowed to touch the mountain, not even an animal was allowed to touch it or it would die! (Ex 19:12) Are we any better than them?
God is holy and we cannot stand directly in his presence until the end of times when our bodies will be transformed. But we can come to him as Moses did and and catch a glimpse of his holiness. This is only possible if we have a transformed heart. If we clothe ourselves in Jesus - the light of the world (Jn 8:12) - , we can go to God and worship him. We can approach him in confidence and know that he will accept us. What an honor to come before the creator of the universe. As Christian we have become one of his children. We are given the honor of being the King's children.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (Jn 14:6) God did send forth his light and truth, Jesus. He made it possible for us to become a child of God. We can approach him on his holy mountain to the place where he dwells and we can dwell with him.
K and A, trying to live in this world as his child is not possible if we have not learned to spend time with him in his presence. Sure church is good, but until you spend time to meet with him in his Word and in prayer you will live defeated lives. Daughters, a defeated life is one where we find the world's ways acceptable. If you love the world, its music and its pleasures, you cannot be his child, because the Father is not in you (1 Jn 2:15). Don't be trapped by the enticements that the world portrays for they are Satan's snare, ready you capture you. Seek God and be a slave to righteousness (Ro 6:18) for in that there is true freedom. ~Dad

Psalm 42:5... Why are you so downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my savior and my God...
David was tormented my enemies. They sought not only his demise but they sought his life. Even his own child tried to take his kingdom and was successful for a time, taking all he owned as his own. David barely escaped with his life... not wife, they we left behind, sad to say. (II Sam 15 - 19) This brought turmoil and his heart was broken and anguish filled his life.
In our life, troubles come. For the past year and a half I have seen time of anguish that before that time I had never experienced. There are times when I cannot see a moment ahead and I fall apart. I am not sure what all causes this but an uncontrollable sadness takes over - for a time. I say this because I am happy that I am not over taken when this occurs. The teachings about God and his love and faithfulness, his forgiveness and peace, and his provisions of strength have sustained me during these times. I am saddened that my emotional struggle exists. I do believe that if I grew up with the preaching and teachings of today and fed on the shallowness of today's music I would wallow in the pity I create for myself.
The preaching you heard last night Anna is the type I grew up on. It speaks of victory the is possible when we not only trust, God but the victory that is possible as we flee the world around us. Today's church and today's church music feed on never being rid of sin just that we are forgiven from it. Such a false teaching. If I grew up on that teaching I don't know where I would be right now.
You two young ladies are similar. Anna has had a more strict upbringing. Both have been given the truth. Kellie, you have have been close to and experienced the trash and sins of the world. Anna, you need to thank God you have been saved from them.... My prayer is that you know there is hope for tomorrow. Nothing is to tough for God. Know to that God is not aloof. He knows exactly what you need. But you have a part to do. If you feed on the things of this world (its music and its pleasures you will fall! (that would break my heart, :() If you feed on today church music and the popular teachings of today's church you will be weak and standing will will be difficult. You will never regret leaving the world behind and living a life of conservative holiness (sad we even have to clarify holiness) Brother Ledford was right, you will never regret it, daughters! Live that kind of life and your mourning will be turned into joy! ~Dad

Psalm 41:1... Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; The Lord delivers him in times of trouble.
God is concerned about the weak and downtrodden (Ps 12:5). He is concerned about the widow and the orphan (Ps 68:5). And he seeks to protect them. In James 1:27 it says this... "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." We must see God's heart. In verse 22 it cautions us to not just hear the word, rather we are to be obedient to what it says.
You may have heard it said in today's church to make the main thing the main thing. This is said to tell everyone we don't follow some obscure rules in the scripture we just want to love each other. Although that is true, it comes out of a 60's era mindset of thinking we just all need to get along. This has brought us to where we are today. The church accepts everyone in, but not just in the doors of the church but into the leadership. This has caused deep changes to theology.
What we must strive for is to follow the key thought of Scripture. That is: our religion (which is a good word despite all that is said in church today) our religion is worthy if we take care of those who cannot provide for themselves (not won't provide) and that we keep ourselves from acting like and then becoming like the world around us. Then we use the Scriptures to see how that is to be carried out, Paul says that the Old Testament shows us what sin is and then we know what to avoid and also it shows us how we should act, the things we should do.
A and K, you would be wise to heed the word of God. Learn from it how to treat others. Take from it the ways to live - the things to avoid and the things to do. And find out from it what the world is like and avoid any appearance of becoming like it. (1 Th 5:20 - 22). If you do these things you will have true religion and you will be delivered by the Lord in times of trouble. ~Dad

Psalm 40:3... He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord...
What is the purpose of a song from your mouth. It allows others to see God and teaches them to fear him. When they see who he really is they will fear him, yet they will not flee away because they will see his love for those who trust and are obedient to him. Instead of fleeing they will put their trust in the Lord and run to him for security and peace.
Read the verse before this one. It speaks of that transformation that comes from putting your trust in him. We were in a pit, sinking without hope. God will pull us from the miry clay and set us our feet on a solid rock where we can stand strong. No wonder why we have a new song on our lips... we have a new one in our heart. Matthew 5:18 says what comes from the out comes from they heart.
K and A look at the One who counts, fear his wrath, and then put your trust in him to pull you from all that hinders you in life and find the joy that will put a new song in your mouth. This hymn will honor him and will bring others to him and give you strength to live by. I can't wait to hear you sing it! ~Dad

Psalm 39: 6...Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be...
This is mankind. They look at the "now" and cannot see the future; they do not look down the road at what will be. Each one lives for the moment. Whether it is with money and possessions or in relationships or jobs, they look for what they can have now.
Hebrews 13:5 say to keep yourselves from free from the love of money and to be satisfied because God will never leave you or forsake you. We need not to worry about tomorrow but that doesn't mean we don't plan for it. But in verse 6 and here in verse 5 we see that what really matter is we have prepared to have God so our future will be richly rewarded because only what is done for him counts in the end.
A, K, do you seek to have things and money in order to be well off? Do you consider what will be later instead of living for the moment. Be patient in regards to finances. Be slow in relationships. Spend your time strengthening your relationship with God and be satisfied with what you now have. The world lives for the moment, so sexual problems arise. People live for the moment so they party and drink and dance and amuse themselves with deviant pleasures. Don't allow the world to squeeze you into its mold (Ro 12:2)... and don't let today's church do it either. Instead be God's clay and allow him to mold you in his way. This you will find pleasurable, not only in the moment but especially in the future. ~Dad

Psalm 38:1... O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger, or discipline in your wrath...
This verse is about David's ongoing struggle with the wicked desiring his downfall. He, of course, was king and many sought his demise. But David saw the struggle not just as a power struggle, he saw it a s a spiritual as well. When he sinned, he knew God would discipline him., yet the correction was compounded when other took advantage of him during that time of chastisement... they would attack when he was down.
David did not ask that God would not correct him, rather he asked that God would stop the attacks from wicked when corrected. Satan attacks when we are down which compounds our problem. David knew he could not take the attacks if God allowed them so he asked that God would not be angry when he disciplined him.
A and K, someday you will give out rebukes and corrections. This may be at the workplace or in the home. When you raise your children, make sure you do not correct them or spank them in anger (and K we never talked about that pic you sent me about paddling children).they cannot take your rebuke if you do so with wrath. Your motivation must be righteousness. If God rebuked like many parents, we would be destroyed. Learn to discipline in love for the good of your child. ~Dad

Psalm 37:8... Refrain form anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil...
"In your anger do not sin" (Ep 4:26), "I tell you that is anyone is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement" (Mt 5:22). We can see from scripture many references to sin and the dangers associated with it. It does appear that you can be angry and not sin, but it is a very dangerous place to be.
The place most people need to dwell is on the second part of this verse. DO NOT FRET... it only leads to evil. I would say David is talking about the other two as well but there are less people who are angry and wrathful. But there are many more who fret; this too leads to evil.
Both of you have seen me fret. That is sad. It is easy to become weary and moan and complain. I have done too much of this lately. Some have told me it is because of all the stress put on be since surgery and loss of job etc... but the reality is I allow myself to be yield to the pressures and then fret because of the hardships and start to take it out on others that I love around me - it only leads to evil.
Daughters, will you allow the situations around you now or in the future to be a drag on your joy? Will you allow the pressures of life and college get you down and begin to fret. I caution you to realize what it will to your relationships and how evil so quickly besets. Take your burdens to Christ; lay them at the foot of the cross and give them up. Then you can continue to live in joy and be a blessing to others. ~Dad

Psalm 36:1... There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin...
There is a natural response to sin, it is guilt! Guilt is crucial. Adam and Eve experienced it when Adam partook of the fruit. (Ge 3:7) All of a sudden they saw their nakedness and had shame. We see this with Cane, Saul, David, and others. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Ro 3:20) We all have experienced the guilt or shame that comes from doing wrong.
But this verse talks about the man that doesn't feel shame when he sins. How could this be, since guilt is given by God to check (the hockey move - that check) our hearts? Our conscience can be over ridden by our own pride and self-righteousness. Grandpa's illustration of the Indian applies here. You must not ignore the triangle.
K and A, sometimes we grow up doing things or seeing others doing things that are wrong. We feel comfortable because the good people we know do them so it an okay thing to do. We have always done it so it has to be okay because I go to church all my life and I love Jesus. We can only use the past ways of life as a guide to what is right. All things must be judged according to the Word and principles of God.
Never be satisfied with your relationship with God. Continually seek holiness. Strive to be better than me, Jesus says that your holiness needs to exceed the scribes and the pharisees if you are going to enter heaven (Mt 5:20) I want all my children to exceed my devotion to Christ. K and A, both of you can do that and it will make me soooo happy! ~Dad

Psalm 35:14... I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother, I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother...
Without knowing the context of the chapter, one would just guess what is being spoken of here. In this chapter, David is complaining about the attacks of his enemies. hey constantly work against him and seek his demise. Time after time they attack, set step traps for him to capture and destroy him.
But this verse talks of David's response. It is a response of Jesus himself. It is a response of love. David did not always have this response for his enemy. Many times he asks God to destroy them. Always remember that we are called to follow Jesus not every action a character of the Bible done. Jesus says to love your enemy and to help them. To this we are called.
A & K, Seek the good of others. This is also true for your enemy. It is the sign of a true Christian. Now you two don't have enemies, I suppose. But there are those that may be annoying to you. These are ones to whom you must love and seek to serve. When you serve others you live a Christ and God is pleased. ~Dad

Psalm 34:11... Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord...
This verse is not just for children, it is for the parents as well. It is important for parents to realize their responsibilities of raising their children for the Lord. Manners are important, good posture needed, but what is crucial above all is need to give them a spiritual foundation that will solidify a relationship with Christ and a continual walk with him.
I enjoy giving you spiritual encouragement each day. Its good for you; good for me. I have the responsibility to encourage you with scripture and must work to spur you on to love and have good deeds. (He 10:24) I am sad that I failed your brothers by not doing so for them. They are different people because I did not take the time to do so. But I must continue to ray and give insights to them now.
Girls, you are my children, be willing listen to me. I aim to teach you the fear of the Lord. I am not the world's best dad. I wish I was better than I am. I wish I was smarter and wiser. I wish I was a better, stronger Christian. I wish I knew how to do all things just right, but I don't. But God still want to use me to help guide you two to love him. I strive to allow him to give me insight as I write these each day. Many times they go a different direction by the time I finish than when I started. That is good.
Ladies, trust God that the words I give are from him. Listen to them and live by them. Especially when it seems contrary to what you might want to do. Pray to the Lord and follow what he says. Ask me why I said what I said. Question and know the truths of God. Read for yourself, listen to the Spirit. You both are growing up in the Lord and must have a close relationship with him. Always know that Mom and I love you and want God's best for you. Serving the Lord brings satisfaction in life. Live for him with out regret. ~Dad

Psalm 33:22... May your unfailing love fall upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you...
God's love is everlasting. But notice it doesn't fall on everyone forever. It is only everlasting for those who put their hope in the Lord. God's love is patient, kind, not proud or rude and so much more. His love is perfect, but it is rejected by so many. to those who do not want it, it will not last forever!
We need to seek God while he may be found (Is 55:6). God's Spirit does not remain with man forever (Ge 6:3) Therefor we must reach out and take a hold of him and let him go.
A and K, seek the Lord and put your hope in him. You will find that his love is unfailing and he will bless you with the attributes of his love, go to I Cor 13. Know that he will keep you and guide you in the way and never let anything come between you and Him. Seek him, daughters. ~Dad

Psalm 32:1... Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered...
This verse can stand alone, but this whole chapter needs read. It covers the pain that come with sinning and fighting against God's way. It tells of the joy that is found by having your life made right and the joy that comes from being righteous.
Blessed... only sinners can be forgiven and find freedom; only those who have done wrong can confess. Blessings only come to who make sins past tense. They are able to realize the love that God has for them. David was so happy to experience it, and wanted to live a righteous life, so he could experience God's surrounding, unfailing love. (vs 10)
Young ladies, I pray that you will not sin but if you do, that the pain you feel will draw you back to Christ and that you will confess your sin and find his faithfulness. Do this and you would experience the joy that comes from having sins forgiven when there is no deceit found in you. You will rejoice and be glad (vs 11) ~Dad

Psalm 31:7... I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction...
God has promised to be there for us. He says, " I will never leave you nor forsake you." (He 13:5) He said this in both the old and new testament and we can count on him to be there. We need to rely on good christian friends and counsel, but there will be times when they cannot help and where will we turn? Turn to the Lord for he will be there for us.
There are those who have nowhere to go when they have troubles. They have no God they have no godly friends. Yet, they must go somewhere or they are in torment. These people turn to evil. They seek answers in pleasure to forget their troubles, they turn to drugs, alcohol, sexual distractions and more. Sadly some turn to hurting others and even hurting themselves to the point of suicide.
A and K, rely on each other and good christian friends and family. They can help in times of trouble and heartache. But, there will be times when they just can't seem to understand. Don't abandon their friendship, rather make sure you are turning to God. He is their in both the good times and in the times when all seems lost. He will have the answers if you but seek him with all your heart. (Jr 29:13) Turn to the Lord and his word and find the peace you seek. ~Dad

Psalm 30:4... Sing to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name...
There is much to praise the Lord for. He is a marvelous God. He supplies us with strength both physically and spiritually. He provides joy and peace. We know this but rarely do we think about what the next verse says.... God anger last only for a moment.
We don't think of this often because we have been taught so much about the love of God we fail to recognize that the Lord gets perturbed with man and wonders when he will ever learn. Well, THAT MY WORDS BUT WE DO KNOW THAT GOD IS NOT HAPPY WHEN WE SIN AND HE GETS ANGRY (oops, cap lock) How much more so when his son died for us and we sin against God anyway, its like crucifying him him all over again. (He. 6:4) But we can be thankful that God is first slow to anger and second abounding in love. He anger is for a moment but his favor lasts a lifetime! (vs 5)
K and A, when you know that you failed God, don't take it lightly. It does sadden God, and he will become angry with you if you could care less about it. Instead, ask for forgiveness, determine in your heart that you will be holy as he is holy. (1 Pe 1:16) Then rejoice and thank him for his forgiving spirit and be glad he favors you. ~Dad
