Psalm 58:11...Then men will say, "Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth...
God says... "it is mine to avenge. I will repay." (Deut. 32:35) Jesus says... "If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to him the other." (Mat 5:39). David is asking for God to act on his behalf. He is very direct in what he wants God to do - destroy the wicked.
Although this brings about the important truth of verse 11 it is not what Jesus calls us to. In fact even his own son, Solomon, said to be kind to those who are against you (Prov 25:22). So what is verse 11 about then... it does the heart and mind of man good when we see God act. It is our proof that he is working on our behalf.
A and K, know that God is there for us. Be patient when you do not see him working fast enough for you. He cares for you (1 Pet 5:7)! He is working even when we cannot see it. Trust him, give him your full confidence and obedience and watch him work on you behalf. ~Dad
