Psalm 57:7... My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music...
Music is an expression of the heart. David speaks much about music and how it can be used to give glory to God. The angles gave glory to God when Jesus was born (not sure they were singing though). Moses sang, Miriam sang, Mary sang and many more gave glory to God by singing.
You have heard it said many times I am sure, "it say to make a joyful noise." (Psalm 100:1) This is used as an excuse to not sing well... Now it is evident that some sing and some perform better than others. We cannot use that as an excuse to become better. Scripture to us to be excellent at what we do and specifically in playing or singing for God to play skillfully (Ps 33:3). But why to we do this... because we are so happy that God has made our hearts steadfast in him. He has solidified our desire to serve and honor him; to be obedient to his way.
A and K, do you work diligently at wanting to better. Are you working to be skillful in your singing and playing the piano. It is true that some are better than others... A is better than I ever was (or will be unless God chooses otherwise) and K progressed much farther than A. Some of this is because of the training we've had.some is that God gave more coordination to some. And some are less stubborn and try harder. So... I want you both to excel. I want to sing with each of you playing (maybe not at the same time but that would be nice too). But I am much more concerned about the reason of why you sing and play.
Daughters, sing and play for in honor to the Lord. Recognize his greatness. See how he honors your devotion to him. Thanks and praise him for how he lifts and takes you through tough times. Glorify his name! ~Dad

After I write these posts each day, I have my prayer time. I pray for each of you. If you have something on your heart, I want to pray for it. Please share and I will gladly pray. ~Dad
